P - “Rotola La Vita” è una canzone degli Audio 2, che hanno interpretato con Mina. L’abbiamo un po’ rivisitata e scelta per partecipare alla manifestazione nazionale del 2000, a cui ci siamo classificati secondi. Una bella esperienza!
D - Ma chi diavolo è la voce solista in “Wonderful Tonight”?

D - Tutto molto bello! Invece, ho notato che in “Quella Carezza Della Sera” i cori emergono prepotentemente. Mi pare che la band stia sfruttando questa sua caratteristica...
M - Hai ragione. Molti elementi dei Carisma, oltre ai due cantanti, sono dotati di buone capacità vocali e in alcuni brani queste vengono alla luce. Ultimamente, il gruppo sta proponendo alcune cover, come “Stand By Me”, “Il Tempo Di Morire” o “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door”, proprio con l’intento di sfruttare questa sua prerogativa.
D - ... “Il Tempo Di Morire”, “Dieci Ragazze”... Pare che la band attinga spesso dal repertorio di Mogol e Battisti...
P - Beh, la musica leggera degli anni ’60 e ’70, in Italia, è stata letteralmente dominata da questa coppia di autori. Non è possibile ignorare canzoni come “Dieci Ragazze” o “La Canzone Del Sole”...
D - ... Ho fatto caso che avete anche rispolverato Harry Nilsson... Il lavoro dei fiati è superlativo!

M - Esatto! Se ascolti la sua colonna sonora, noterai una superba cover di “Proud Mary”: ebbene, si avvicina molto alla nostra versione. L’abbiamo scelta proprio dopo avere ascoltato quell’interpretazione.
D - “Musica Che Scoppia” è la versione italiana di “Hot Stuff”, no?
P - Proprio così.
D - ... La mitica Donna Summer... Era davvero la regina della disco music anni’70-’80! Vi ricordate di “Love To Love You Baby”?
M - E come no! Stiamo parlando di una vera leggenda...
D - Il testo italiano è vostro?
P - No. Conosci Mietta?
D - Certo! Una voce davvero unica. Ha iniziato collaborando con Amedeo Minghi, mi pare...
P - Si, ma ben presto ha saputo mettersi in luce per le sue indubbie qualità. Comunque, nel 1998, con testo italiano di Galli, ha inciso “Musica Che Scoppia” – una versione che si avvicina notevolmente alla nostra.
D - Qui leggo “Cercando Di Te”... Mi pare sia una canzone dei Pooh...
M - Sì. E’ tratta dall’album “Amici X Sempre”, del 1996. La band ha sempre ammirato questo storico quartetto della musica leggera italiana; già in passato avevamo proposto la cover di “Tanta Voglia Di Lei”, un successo del 1971.
D - Cosa mi sapete dire delle composizioni originali del gruppo? Voglio dire: chi scrive i testi e chi le musiche?
P - Beh... Ecco... In linea di massima, la maggior parte degli spunti proviene da Corrado o da Moreno, mentre gli arrangiamenti per i fiati sono di Rolland e i testi sono opera di tutta la band.
M - Devi sapere che durante il decennio 1986-1996 i Carisma avevano un repertorio costituito al 99% da composizioni proprie. E’ soltanto a partire dal ’96 che il gruppo ha iniziato a proporre un numero sempre maggiore di cover all’interno dei concerti.
D - E questo come lo spiegate?
P - E’ una nostra scelta. Personalmente, ritengo che i nostri brani siano comunque di buon livello.
D - E’ quel che penso anch’io... Comunque, certo che avete due cantanti fuori dal comune...
M - Sono davvero felice di avere l’opportunità di parlare di Stefano e Raffaella: due solisti sicuramente unici nel panorama musicale valdostano. Stefano Menegolo è in effetti il più recente acquisto dei Carisma, una voce da “soul man”.
P - Una scelta davvero azzeccata!
M - Eh, sì. E che dire, poi, di Raffaella Lamazzi, in grado di raggiungere note incredibili e di interpretare tranquillamente persino i brani di Mina? Ha alle spalle notevoli esperienze musicali – non è difficile capirlo – ed è il classico “fiore all’occhiello” della band!
D - Bravi davvero! Ho pure notato che molte covers proposte dal gruppo vengono riarrangiate: la band spesso non si limita alla fedele esecuzione del brano originale. Questo comporta un lavoro decisamente più impegnativo, anche per quanto riguarda la scelta delle canzoni...
P - Hai perfettamente ragione: difficilmente ci limitiamo all’esecuzione fedele di un brano famoso.
M - E’ una delle qualità del gruppo!
P - Sì. Normalmente la canzone viene scelta, provata, quindi inizia una fase di “arrangiamento” che può essere più o meno complessa. Se il risultato non è del tutto soddisfacente, il materiale viene accantonato ed eventualmente rielaborato.
D - Volevo anche elogiare il lavoro della batteria e del basso, che mi sembra sempre molto buono, sia nell’album che in concerto...
P - Eh si! Ermanno Riva-Rivot e Antonio Serafino hanno entrambi notevoli esperienze musicali alle spalle...
M - ... E si sente!
D - Eccome! Un’ultima cosa: quali sono i progetti per il futuro? Vi risulta che la band stia lavorando ad un secondo album?
P - I Carisma hanno effettivamente in progetto la realizzazione di un secondo album...
